Most people think of scoliosis as an S-shaped curve in the spine.

It’s actually not. More accurately, it’s a corkscrew-shaped twist in the spine.

Why is this important? Because it means that anything (like a brace, for example) that tries to force the spine straight by pushing against the curves will not succeed – because it is not unwinding the twists.
